On Tuesday, the Pakistani Rupee gained another 0.01% in the inter-bank market, closing at Rs. 281.72 against the US Dollar. This marks the 18th consecutive gain, demonstrating the rupee’s resilience. Since August 6, 2025, the currency has strengthened cumulatively by Rs. 0.95, providing a significant boost to our economy.
While the Rupee held its ground against the dollar, other major currencies saw a different story.
Euro: The Euro took a hit, with its value against the PKR falling by a notable Rs. 2.89, closing at Rs. 328.03. This is a significant drop from its previous close of Rs. 330.21.
British Pound: The British Pound also saw a steep decline, losing a full Rs. 4 against the local currency, trading at Rs. 377.16.
Japanese Yen: The Japanese Yen weakened slightly, closing at Rs. 1.89, a minor drop of 2 paisas.
For those with ties to the Gulf, there’s good news. The Emirates Dirham (AED) remained stable at Rs. 76.70. Similarly, the Saudi Riyal (SAR) saw only a minor decrease of 1 paisa, closing at Rs. 75.07.
This continued strengthening of the Pakistani Rupee is a positive sign for the country. It helps stabilize import costs, which can ultimately help in controlling inflation and stabilizing the prices of everyday goods. For overseas Pakistanis, this trend is a promising development that could encourage more official remittances.
